ATS Scientific Inc. is now representing Agilent Technologies Nanotechnologies Division- Instrumentation including Atomic Force Microscopes, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Nanomechanical Indentation Testing Equipment.

Microfluidics and Quadro Engineering, now part of The Materials Processing Technologies Group of IDEX Corporation, offer a number of technologies capable of producing these types of  valuable, yet challenging to produce, formulations.

For instance, the Microfluidizer® high shear fluid processing technology is used for particle size reduction of suspensions and emulsions to sub-micron levels.  It is also used for cell disruption. 

Based on the same platform, PureNano, an award winning, processing technology from Microfluidics, is used for the “bottom up” production of nanoparticles through chemical reactions or crystallization.

In addition, Quadro Ytron® high shear inline mixers can help maximize yield and minimize downstream processing, though the preparation of high quality micron to submicron scale pre-dispersions and emulsions in a single pass process.

Applications of these technologies in the food and nutraceutical industries include high fiber soy milk, flavor and color emulsions, fish oil encapsulation, plant sterol and vitamin formulations, starch purification, functional foods, dairy products and more.

From Horiba Instruments - SZ 100 Nanopartica series

The SZ-100 nanopartica series instruments are flexible analytical tools for characterizing the physical properties of small particles. Depending on the configuration and application the system can be used as a particle size analyzer, or also used to measure zeta potential, molecular weight, (MW) and second virial coefficient (A2). Typical applications for the SZ-100 include nanoparticles, colloids, emulsions, and submicron suspensions.

Particle size analysis is performed by dynamic light scattering (DLS). Depending on the physical properties of the sample, the dynamic range is 0.3 nm – 8 µm.
